Decorating for Your Wedding
Take time to plan on what type of wedding decorations you will use for your wedding. You will need to think about your wedding’s theme, wedding’s colors and the location where you will have the wedding ceremony performed. Will your wedding be formal and traditional or casual and contemporary? Will your wedding be an elegant church wedding with flowers, candles and ribbons?
You use different types of decorations depending on where you are getting married. Take pictures of the wedding site so you can refer to them while you are planning what decorations you will need.
Think about the theme for your wedding. You do not have to stay with the traditional wedding themes. You could do a beach theme, a cowboy theme, a football theme, a Hawaiian theme, a LasVegas theme or any other type of theme you can imagine. You should try to have your wedding decorations match and compliment your wedding theme.
Think about your wedding colors. You will want to incorporate those colors into your wedding decorations. The wedding colors may be your favorite color, a color that can be associated with a hobby, occupation, sentiment or the color preferred during the season. Make sure that the color of the decorations will go well with what the wedding party will be wearing.
You will want to decide early on what flowers you will need. You don’t want to pick a flower that will be out of season. Decide on a type and color that will be in season to keep you floral expenses down. Once you decide on your floral arrangements place your order as early as possible with the florist you have chosen. Beautiful flowers will enhance wedding venue you have chosen and help set the mood for your perfect wedding day.
Some weddings are outdoors and for this type of situation, you can use just about anything for your wedding decorations. You will use flowers of course but you also might want to add some floor decorations - perhaps a goal post for a football or soccer themed wedding. Think rental for your floor decorations and maybe even for some of your floral decorations.
If there will be children attending, you may want to use balloons to add some fun to your wedding. This is something that is not traditional at the wedding, but can be done. You can use the same colors that you are using for your gowns and groomsmen and have great balloons beaming from all over. You may want to have all white or all of one color. Also think about where the children will be seated on have the less fragile decorations in the children’s area.
Make sure that your wedding decorations are done in good taste. You do not want anything to look tacky or thrown together. You should have a well thought out plan so that you are not just starting from scratch with your decorations. Take your time and think about what you want and then do some research. You will find that there are a lot of different places that have decorations and even ideas for how to decorate your wedding.
You don’t have to do all the decorating yourself. Ask the other members of the wedding party to help out. You asked them to be part of your wedding day and they would like to share in helping you make it the best ever. Ask them for some of their decorating ideas. You may find that you will get some great ideas from them.
If you are having a church wedding you should check if other weddings are being held before or after yours. You may be able to coordinate the wedding decorations with the other weddings. You could share the cost of the decorations and the labor to set them up and take them down.
Remember to setup a budget and try to stay within it. Make the most of what you have and do not forget to have fun! It is your wedding day and it is supposed to be the happiest day of your life.
